Piller's Fine Foods, a division of PBOLP is one of North America’s largest producers of European sausages and deli meats, known for quality products such as Black Forest ham, air-dried salamis and meat snacks.

We are currently seeking applicants for the following positions in our Waterloo facility:

Summer Students - Production

Summer Students

Perform manual tasks on the production line to process and package meat, assist in stuffing product, hang product on racks, manually pack goods into bags and boxes or other containers, cleaning work areas and equipment, feed and unload processing machines, check products and packaging for basic quality defects.

Requirements

  • Good manual dexterity
  • Team-oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Good attendance record
  • Physically fit and capable of performing repetitive tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment
  • Knowledge of safe food processing is an asset
  • Production experience is an asset
  • Be willing to work at different work stations throughout processing departments as required
  • Must be able to wear steel toe boots, a hairnet, bump cap and hearing protection
  • Must be comfortable handling raw meat

Must be able to work from May 4th until August 31st

Shifts are:

Days: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm OR 6:30am - 3:00pm

Afternoons: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm

Nights: Monday to Friday, 9:00pm – 5:30am

Smokehouse Operator - NIGHT SHIFT

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Oversees the smokehouse process, program controls, troubleshoots smokehouse problems
  • Fill and empty smoke houses with product
  • Transport product to coolers or drying room
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cook tanks and fill and empty cook tanks.
  • Manually check smokehouse temperatures
  • Clean and wash smokehouses
  • Keep a flexible schedule to assist with vacation coverage

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One to two years previous production experience in the plant preferred
  • Reading and writing skills essential
  • Applicants must be highly detail oriented and mechanically inclined
  • Must be comfortable working independently

Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:30pm - 5:00am (Nights)

Brand Ambassador - Summer Student Opportunity

We are currently looking for passionate and energetic individuals to represent the Piller’s brand and promote a variety of products at community & charity events and store appreciation events throughout Ontario. Your enthusiastic personality, great attitude and positive energy while representing the Piller’s brand is what will set you apart.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute special events throughout Ontario (daily light travel is required)
  • Liaise with on-site event contacts to ensure proper set-up
  • Facilitate daily setup and maintenance – ensuring propane tanks and truck are full, all required materials are packed, and managing food supplies
  • Prepare sausages (and other foods as required), in a food safe manner and provide samples to consumers
  • Engage with consumers – listen to what they are saying about our products and brand, and share this feedback and experiences with our marketing team
  • Take pictures at events and share back with our marketing team for social media
  • Maintain event materials, supplies, and equipment and ensure everything is clean and operational for best brand representation
  • Support other brand initiatives, as required

Experience

  • Currently enrolled as a student in a post-secondary college or university program
  • Past customer service experience is considered a strong asset
  • Food handling certificate is considered a strong asset

Requirements

  • Flexible work schedule including week days/evenings and most weekends from end of April through end of August
  • A valid G driver’s license and a clean driving record (abstract required)
  • Comfortable driving a small truck (training will be provided)
  • Frequent lifting, ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • At ease handling and operating a propane BBQ
  • Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
  • Occasional overnight trips (Ontario only; expenses will be covered)

Cost Accountant (Brantford)

We are currently seeking a Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team. This position is to develop and maintain standard costs as well as provide timely reporting and analysis to the Operational Controller and Plant Management team.

This position is based out of our manufacturing facility located in Brantford Ontario. Travel to our Waterloo facility will be require once per week.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with purchasing, R&D and manufacturing to develop cost estimates for new products
  • Updates raw material standards monthly with forecasted raw material costs
  • Analyzes and maintains direct labour and running speeds
  • Executes/analyzes and runs updates to product costs in ERP system
  • Prepares cost and efficiency reporting to support manufacturing goals
    • Labour Variance Reporting and analysis
    • Material Variance Reporting and analysis
    • Inventory reporting and analysis
  • Presents monthly/quarterly manufacturing scorecard results to Operations
  • Prepares month end journal entries and expense analysis
  • Assists in Inventory counts

Qualifications for this position include:

  • CPA designation preferred
  • 2-3 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment – preference will be given to candidates with experience in meat or food production
  • Experience working with ERP and cost accounting systems
  • Intermediate or higher Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Must be able to work additional hours during month end
  • Ability to travel to our Waterloo facility once per week
